  • How do different skills evolve over generations?
  • How do the skills provided evolve with the size of the companies?
  • What skills are most present in a given sector?

 

So many questions that Scopeo was able to answer, by identifying the main trends and main lines of a data set. Scopeo analyzed a game of 250 profiles audiences on Linkedin and their 1,25 million professional experiences. In this second issue, we studied the correlation between the skills listed in a Linkedin profile and various information. 

The dataset was created by going through public Linkedin profiles step by step: it is therefore not necessarily representative of the general population but rather of the profiles that are accessible to us. 
No percentage displayed was calculated on a sample of less than 1000 people.

Let us be interested in skills informed on Linkedin, the latter being the most populated field. Skills on Linkedin are recognized and in-depth professional knowledge. They are not predefined and therefore allow the user to define their skills with their own terms. Here are the skills most indicated on Linkedin:

Sectors

Which skills are most representative from what sector? To assess this, Scopeo compared the proportion of people mastering a skill in a given sector to the proportion in the general population.

These graphs show us the three skills more controlled by each domain. The score shown is the difference in points between the mastery percentage in this industry and that in the general population.

Seniority

We can also identify trends with seniority.

By taking the date of entry into the labor market, we can notice a evolution of the skills provided according to the decade entry.

We find skills linked to new technologies such as mastery of “python” and “social media” among younger generations. 

Size of the company

The skills provided also vary depending on the size of the company.

In this graph we compare the proportions of mastery of six skills (base of 100 points for companies of size 0-1).

The smaller the company, the more skills such as mastery of social networks or marketing are found, through which employees can be identified. versatile able to participate in communication regardless of their position.

The larger the company, the more we see certain skills, characteristics of a certain organization such as human resources and team management.

To fulfill your skills on Linkedin, you must evaluate them with regard to the following aspects: activity area,seniority, And the size of the company where you work or want to work.
